Let AI build the plumbing, not be the plumbing.

The fastest returns from AI rarely come from rebuilding everything. They come from rethinking how the systems already in place connect, and adding to them. That can be a small fix or a whole new layer; either way it builds on what works instead of tearing it down, so work stops being copied by hand.

I have used AI at the command line and through APIs to wire separate systems into one operational backbone: a single source of truth for offers, dates, and customers, connected to payments, email, and material delivery. AI did the building. The running system has no model in the data path, which is exactly why it stays predictable and GDPR-safe with personal data.

Start where the friction is, not with a rebuild. Point AI at the glue between systems, keep the running system simple, and the model out of the data path.
